Mike McFerrin
Mike McFerrin resides in Kingwood, Texas with his wife Bonnie and their three children, Christian, MaKenna and Georgia-Kate. Mike, a Texas native, has been an avid archery hunter for over twenty years. He has taken numerous Pope & Young trophy whitetail bucks, including the Texas state record velvet buck that scored 215 3/8 gross and 197 5/8 net. He has volunteered his time with the Texas Youth Hunters Program in cooperation with the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, and serves as an official Texas Big Game Awards scorer. Mike is especially passionate about whitetail deer, but also likes turkey hunting, elk hunting and mule deer hunting. He has hunted all over the country in pursuit of new game and enjoys the challenge of hunting new territory. Mike is the co-owner of a family owned car business, McFerrin Motors, Inc., located in the Houston area since 1969. He divides his time between family, work and his great love of the outdoors.Mike and Bonnie have been hunting South Texas for over a decade. For the past eight years they have leased 9,000 free-range acres with the sole purpose of growing giant whitetails. Their passion for the outdoors has spread like wildfire throughout the family and all three children have taken up the sport as well. In the 2008-2009 season all three of the McFerrin kids harvested a whitetail with their archery equipment. Hunting is a way of life in the McFerrin family and each member enjoys the sport tremendously.
In 2003 the McFerrins joined the Drury Outdoors team. To date they have filmed four television series, which includes, Dream Season 4 Couples, Bow Madness Season 1, Dream Season 6 – Redemption and Bow Madness Season 2. Mike and Bonnie have also been featured on several different Drury Outdoors video titles such as: Whitetail Madness 8, 100% Wild Vol 4, Elk Madness 2, Big Game 6, Predator Madness and Longbeard Madness 14. Within the Drury Outdoors organization Mike and Bonnie have been nominated for various awards including Producer of the Year, Best New Comer and in 2006 they won the Editor’s Choice Award for Dream Season 4. In 2008 their elk hunt on Bow Madness Season 1 was nominated for the best big game hunt at the Outdoor Channel’s Golden Moose Awards. To date the McFerrin’s have harvested 24 bucks (2 over 190”, 1 over 170”, 4 over 160” and the remainder between 130-150”) 3 archery elk, 1 archery mule deer and 1 archery antelope on film.
With over a decade of experience together in the outdoors, and seven years of filming and producing their hunting adventures, Mike and Bonnie's knowledge in the outdoors, combined with their passion and enthusiasm for hunting, provides a unique experience for their viewing audience.
